“When I showed a friend of Monica Droste’s (the silversmith who exhibited her beautiful opal jewelry at Gallery 57 last year) my cat’s heads, she asked me with tearful eyes if I also made masks from dogs. One of her two dogs had just died , and she liked to see it immortalized in a statue. That’s how I came up with the idea of modeling an urn in the shape of a mask. A genius idea, they thought. and immediately ordered two. One for the dog that had died, and a second for the dog that was still alive. Just in case … ”
